Stories of Earth, Stories of Us
Under Our Feet is an independent podcast that explores how geologic forces and events shape the world around us.
Humans are relative newcomers to Earth, but our story and the story of our planet are one and the same.
Hosted and produced by Rudy Molinek, Under Our Feet features top experts alongside people who live their lives amidst our ever changing Earth.
Season 2 is all about PFAS and groundwater. Grounded in the real-life experience of acute PFAS contamination in Peshtigo, Wisconsin, this mini-series dives deep into the science of PFAS and hears from all the top experts. From the history of the discovery of so-called ‘forever chemicals’ to the chemistry of fluorine-carbon bonds and the physics of groundwater flow, Under Our Feet explores all aspects of the PFAS crisis. We also learn about how these chemicals impact human health and leak through the most advanced engineered landfill systems. Finally, the series concludes with stories from the Menominee Nation, whose origin story takes place at the same spot where intense contamination now flows into the Menominee River.
Season 1 travels through time and across Wisconsin to find out how the state came together over the past 2 billion years. If you have a favorite place in Wisconsin, we probably have an episode about it. From Lake Superior to Baraboo to the Kettle Moraine, listen here for a journey through time and space in the Badger State.
