Under Our Feet Season 2 Announced
The second season of Under Our Feet will explore how our bodies themselves are inextricably linked to the ground beneath our feet: through the water that comes out of our tap. Grounded in the true story of Peshtigo, Wisconsin, this season uses the ongoing PFAS ‘forever chemical’ crisis as a way to show how inseparable our lives are from the Earth system.
In this series you’ll discover:
What PFAS are and how we use them all around us everyday
The lab accident that led to the discovery of PFAS
How Teflon was used in the Manhattan Project
The science of what makes PFAS ‘forever chemicals’ so sticky (and so slippery)
Why PFAS are so harmful to human health
The engineering problem of designing landfills full of PFAS products
The physics and chemistry of groundwater flow and contamination
First-person stories of acute contamination
